Sound of Hope is our Music Education Program
Significance of the Project:Music can be very beneficial in the integral education of the child. In various developed countries, music is part of the curriculum of the educational system, as is mathematics or science, because they have recognized the value that music has, and the great things it can cultivate in the kids.
Unfortunately, music is not part of the curriculum in the Dominican Republic. In the present only a minimum number of schools has a musical band project. So that, many children and teens can’t have any access to a musical training for two main reasons: their parents lack of financial resources to be able to enroll their children in a private music school, which are also far away from a lot of areas that are marginalized. And, many parents ignore the benefits of music education in children.
Howard Earl Gardner an American developmental psychologist and the John H. and Elisabeth A. Musical intelligence is one of them. If the kids take music lessons at an early age, this can potentializes other intelligences on them, such as math, emotional and social skills.

The Lord found me when I was 16. I took my first piano lessons at the age of 17 with a private teacher, because at that time in my church there was a keyboard, but nobody knew how to play it. My love for the Lord and music was growing. Later, a leader of my church got me a discount in a music school where I studied piano for two years. I never thought about dedicating myself to music professionally, but the Lord was guiding me until I made that decision.

Around 10 years of experience teaching music in different institutions, private and group lessons, I know that music education could have a great impact on children if we do it intentionally. It can help them to reach It can help personal skills such as discipline, concentration, learn how to work in groups, enhance their self-esteem by learning an instrument, and more. Also, through music, kids can learn about the character of God, how God create all things and that he is worthy of all the glory and praise, so we can use music education to preach them the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
